Project Scope

The scope of the project was to design and construct a new, two platform railway station at Horden on the Durham coast line. The station will be served by the existing Northern Rail service and it is expected that over 70,000 journeys per year could be made to and from the new station, providing a boost to the economy and widening employment opportunities for local residents.

The new station will provide:

  • A comfortable, modern station to serve the community
  • Level, step free access from the adjacent car park to both platforms
  • Whole life efficiency in terms of cost and maintenance
